Put your favorite poem through a translator into a different language and then back again. Do this until the poem is no longer recognizable. Rewrite it and turn it into lyrics for a song.

Let it Rain

Don’t listen to the rain when it falls
Don’t fall for lies whenever they call
They never said it was that easy
But smokes and mirrors were your fantasy
 
You wanna wake up in the spring
Wanna see them all, wanna climb to the top
But you’ll need to give up everything
Nowhere to hide, you have no one at all
 
Let it rain
Let them drain you from the core
Let them leave you on the shore
Let them give you everything
Before they take away it all
Let them have your mind all cleared
Let them kill your darlings dear
They will keep your heart in here
Till it breaks and disappears
 
Give your blood and tears
To all their jailers
Burn your hopes and fears
At all their altars
 
Maybe they can’t control the weather
Maybe they want you to do better
They test your strength to make you braver
But you’re a bird of a different feather
